Hello! I’m Cyn.

I’m a writer, photographer, and mixed media artist, coming to you from ‘the snug’ (my tiny studio) in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

I’ve been an ‘artsy’ person my whole life. But, like a lot of people, I wasn’t encouraged to follow my creative urges into adulthood. As a result, I’ve felt rather stressed out and misplaced.

Something essential was missing.

So in 2016, I started writing. And with the help of some beautiful mentors and encouragers, I developed an intuitive writing practice called Insight Writing®. And later, I created TellMe Insight Cards™, two volumes of cards to inspire people to write, play and connect.

Now in midlife, I’ve turned fully toward a lifelong desire to create visual art, and have begun my journey as a professional mixed-media artist.

Of Ink + Insight has now grown into a community here on Substack, offering more wide-ranging posts, podcasts and museletters than ever, all aimed at promoting self-discovery through creative practice.

At my core, I’m a champion for those of us who are still finding our creative voice. Whether you think of yourself as ‘creative’ or not, my goal is to clear the way for deep self-inquiry, to help quiet the critical voice and offer you the freedom to grow into an intuitive creative practice that truly nourishes you.

I won’t tell you all the ‘right’ ways to write or make your art, but you can always count on me to provide plenty of prompts for experimentation, discovery and sharing.

My own messy writing, contemplative photography and artwork is proof that courage, freedom and beauty can be found in the smallest, most ordinary moments. I’m here to show you what true (and perpetual) beginnerness really looks like.

Are you ready to get a little messy with me?
